Since 2018, Upian has been supporting the Cité de la musique – Philharmonie de Paris, notably through the overhaul of the institution’s main website, totally redesigned to offer a fluid, personalized experience.
A multi-faceted establishment
Inaugurated in 2015, the Cité de la musique – Philharmonie de Paris works to democratize access to musical culture, in all its genres and for all audiences. Whether through the programming of nearly 500 concerts a year, in 4 halls; an internationally renowned symphonic ensemble, the Orchestre de Paris; several resident orchestras; a policy of music education and transmission; the permanent collection of the Musée de la musique to temporary exhibitions; and much more…
A clearer website
The main objective of this redesign was to make it easy to explore the immense wealth of activities offered by the Philharmonie de Paris, whether it’s a concert or an activity.
The information architecture has thus been completely rethought, and is now structured around the institution’s four main pillars: concerts and shows, the Museum and its exhibitions, adult activities (music workshops, conferences… but also online content) and the entire range of activities for children and families.
A more practical site
The new diary, accessible directly from every page, allows you to browse the entire program.
The new online magazine, meanwhile, features video interviews with guest artists, in-depth articles and the new range of podcasts.
As for the personal space, it has been redesigned for greater readability and comfort. Whether it’s for finding tickets, or for transforming a wish list into a subscription.
Remote design and production
A climate of trust was established between the Philharmonie’s web team and the Upian project team, enabling the success of a major overhaul, involving multiple internal and external players, in the midst of a health crisis.
From functional design to functionality prototyping, via strategic consulting, multiple iterations enabled us to reach an internal consensus on the structure, navigation and graphic design of the new site. It was a lengthy process that enabled the team to produce a high-performance, accessible tool in keeping with the image of a major modern public institution.
And soon…
Other new features are also in the pipeline. Firstly, with the redesign of Philharmonie Live, the space for viewing live concerts on demand. Secondly, with the creation of the Philharmonie des enfants digital space.
This new space will offer a playful and poetic experience for developing musical sensitivity in children. Among other things, it will feature some twenty manipulable installations, an immersive spatialized sound studio and a 60 m2 living lab dedicated to the testing by children of prototypes of innovative installations around sound and music. The digital space will complement this physical space, and is designed to enhance the experience before, during and after the visit.
