From the 27th of June 2019, ARTE is offering Snapchat users a weekly programme. It’s called FAQ and we’d like to introduce you to it below.
What’s FAQ?
FAQ is a Snapchat’s show. Snaps come one after another, they are not in a loop, and turn into one long video.
FAQ covers social, environmental and cultural issues from a civic, progressive and European perspective.
Each episode lasts 5 minutes.
FAQ is a programme about « why » rather than « what ». Questioning is at the heart of our approach.
Learning, discovering, growing up, getting inspired, engaging. Why? How? With whom? All questions are good to ask, let’s look at them together.
Each episode raises of questions on a particular subject. The audience is encouraged to develop its own opinion on an issue that concerns them. The reflections presented in these editions encourage viewers to question their own practices and prejudices, and inspire them to get engage in a civically-minded approach.
It’s serious, but also a bit funny right?
The show is also an opportunity for the viewer to have fun while avoiding feeling like a lesson. This playfulness is reflected in the choice of subjects, their treatment, the way the questions are asked and the design.
There’s also a range of interactive content (quizzes, polls, personality tests, etc.): you can find out which endangered species you belong to, why you should to pee in the shower, whether you’re more like Elon Musk or Thomas Pesquet, etc.
So what are the questions you’re asking?
Should we save the pandas? Why are rappers the kings of the stream? Do we need ecology teachers at school? Can we survive without new clothes? Should we disobey? Are rules too expensive? Who are the new witches? Will we ever live anywhere but on Earth?
And so, who provides the answers?
Dedicated people, inspiring personalities, experts with diverse profiles, young people filming themselves. Their stories and career paths are highlighted through portraits, their actions through reports, and their points of view through interviews. The audience has the opportunity to meet a panda ambassador, a fashion influencer, a teenager who goes on holiday 4 km from home, a comedian and a rapper. They discover how a sports recycling centre works, a zero waste canteen or go behind the scenes of a civil disobedience course, and ask questions alongside a campaigner against menstrual insecurity, an Erasmus trainee or a researcher from the Museum. They all provide the insights and, in some cases, the motivation to change and take action.
